Hi, okay i have no idea whether or not anybody reads this, but i do have something to say.
I have gone to some sort of religious school my entire life. as i was researching Marcus Mumford for a homework project, i came across all the debacle of whether he was a christian. To be candid this made me extremely frustrated. I take the side of Marcus. Christianity and the title “christian” only goes so far. some who take that name live in a graceless, hypocritical manner and deem Christians as merciless and unpleasant. Loving the Lord has nothing to do with “Christianity”. Mumford and Sons got me through an extremely rough time in my religious school. my education is served with extreme judgement and kids who only care about looking like they are a good person rather than actually loving the Lord.
In many of their songs they talk about religion in a negative manner. Religion in it’s essence is an inappropriate way to “worship” the Lord. Christ is not a religion. He is not a set of rules that you have to follow or everyone will turn on you, He’s a person who would rather have you love Him than do all the good deeds. In their song “Holland Road”, though this is my interpretation, I believe Holland road refers to religion or the Lord. The song speaks of a heart of stone standing against a “calice mind” which in my opinion is Christ. As the song continues he says he “pays less time to Your calice mind” meaning that after spending time with the Lord you realize that He his worth more than just walking away and giving up.
Another song “Broken Crown” he talks of the broken crown that he refuses to ware. he says that “I’ll never be your chosen one”. this is for the people who become so extremely engulfed in their pride as “the elect” or “God’s elect” they forget that loving the Lord is a life of love not of hate of those you may think aren’t worthy. I could go on, but i am done with my tangent. forgive me but what is not said is sometimes demanded to be said. Thank you.

My son Gary loves to travel and to go to Mumford and son concerts. 3 weeks ago while traveling to Thailand Gary was the victim of a hit and run accident. He is in a coma and fighting for his life. We think he can hear us. Doctor said play music. Tonight while playing one of your albums he moved his eye lids and wiggled his toes 3 times. This is a big accomplishments. Just wanted you to know what an impact your music is making on one person’s life.

I don’t know how copyrighting works, but I love your guys’ covers, especially “The Boxer.” I have always been a big Simon and Garfunkel fan, and now I am a big fan of yours as well. I just wanted to suggest that you all do a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” Love your music and all of the heart you put into it. The best music comes from those who love creating and playing it, and your love of it definitely shows. Keep creating awesome stuff! Love you guys!

I am commenting here as I do not know where else to go. In the documentary film, Another Dsy / Another Time: Inside LLewyn Davis, your group sings a song that I cannot find even on the documentary soundtrack, U do not know the name, but the chorus includes the phrase: “...it’s not the leaving that’s grieving me, but .....“I It’s about a guy who looses a woman and does not know if she will return; it is towards the end of the documentary. What is the name of the song and where can I purchase it. With smiles, Dr. Bob
