St. Augustine LOVED MUMFORD AND SONS!!! my students talked about it all school year. We are looking for some support for our art classes and I thought what better people to spread the word! I am reaching out to you to help me inspire my students to reach their highest potential. http://app.adoptaclassroom.org/ is easy and accountable way for you to contribute funds and make a real difference for me and my students.
100% of your contribution goes directly to my account. AdoptAClassroom.org takes $0 out for administration. No bureaucracy and no red tape. Just immediate impact.
Here`s a description of our specific needs:
I teach art to amazing 6-8th graders at Sebastian Middle School, a title 1 school located in St. Augustine, Florida. We are a diverse group of artist learning how to create art as a reflection of the community in which we live. We will be manipulating the principles and elements of design to create works of 3-D art. My goal as the new teacher of these extremely talented young adults, is to open them to cultural experiences communicated through art history. Along with the messages and meaning behind famous works of art that influence them. I want to encourage my students to embrace their inner artist and learn to communicate using art. For that reason I am dedicating this page to trying to find the funding to create the “Teach a Man to Fish” endeavor. The “Teach a Man to Fish” endeavor is a themed pottery/ceramics production line I am basing off of the old proverb “Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish feed him for a lifetime.” With this project I would like to make Japanese inspired 3D art which will include a variety of Fish based sculptures and projects inspired by Japanese art. This will included pottery and ceramic fish shaped decorative plates, bowls, cups, boxes, and jewelry with a portion of the I see this as a chance to start something big. It is my intentions to host silent art auction, have an arts/crafts booth at local farmer’s market and festivals to raise money for our program; while teaching my students life and business skills they will be able to use in the future. I would like for my student reach a mass producible level in their functional artwork to be able to understand the challenges and passions of an independent self-employed artist. I hope to open their eyes, busy their hands and light their hearts on fire with a passion for learning that lasts a life time! Please help us reach our Goals!
